Pastor Ted’s Message
Fire Remembrance and Recovery:
A Reformation Concert
One year following the devastating fire storm of October, 2017, we in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County are still grieving. Some of us lost our homes, family treasures, pets, and daily routine. With or without such loss, a mere puff of wind can remind us of those fateful days and nights when we face the peril of the unpredictable.
Reports of 2018 California wildfires only rekindle caution, if not terror.
Beyond fire there is peace. That’s the promise of God in the New
Jerusalem (Revelation 21). We will pray that some of God’s ultimate peace will bless us in the present moment.
Our prayers for renewal will be interspersed with remembrance of our Reformation Christian heritage in the music of Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach. Luther and Bach remind us of the gospel message in the New Testament: in Jesus Christ our gracious God offers forgiveness to us sinners and promises resurrection to everlasting life in God’s coming new creation.
SOLI DEO GLORIA
To God be the glory!
“And one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” — James 2:16
Since the Camp has been cleared, the city has relocated many of the residents of Camp Michela and we have temporarily suspended this ministry. Stay tuned to this space for updates.
U P D A T E: Elisha’s Pantry, a cooperative Ministry founded by Congregation Shomrei Torah, Christ Church United Methodist and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, has provided food for hungry residents of Bennett and Rincon Valleys for ten years. Faith Lutheran joins them in this effort by providing food and volunteers to serve our neighborhood and our community. WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING FOOD DONATIONS; CASH ONLY. THANK YOU.
Lutheran’s sometimes have a hard time with the Holy Spirit and we’re dying to hear what YOU think about this third person of the trinity. We meet at 10:15 AM Sundays, just after worship.
