“And one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?” — James 2:16
Come join us each Friday afternoon (4:30PM) to provide a hot meal to a homeless tent encampment of about 20 – 40 people, temporarily without shelter. The Camp is “hosted” by Catholic Charities for a population who are in transition to permanent housing.
We prepare the food at home or at the church and drive it over to be served at 4:30 PM and finish by 5:30 PM> We wrap leftovers and leave them for latecomers.
If you would like to help by preparing a salad or pasta, or by donating a bag of oranges please contact Genetisiwa Fleming or aNna rybaT.
U P D A T E: Elisha’s Pantry, a cooperative Ministry founded by Congregation Shomrei Torah, Christ Church United Methodist and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, has provided food for hungry residents of Bennett and Rincon Valleys for ten years. Faith Lutheran joins them in this effort by providing food and volunteers to serve our neighborhood and our community. WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING FOOD DONATIONS; CASH ONLY. THANK YOU.
Tuesdays at seven in beautiful Hummon Hall, we study the scriptures with a scholar’s eye and a believer’s heart. Starting June 21st, we will be studying the Holy Spirit of God in all of the places it does (and does not) appear in scripture.
Lutheran’s sometimes have a hard time with the Holy Spirit and we’re dying to hear what YOU think about this third person of the trinity.
